The winners have been selected! We had a very talented pool of applicants to choose from: 240 plus applicant teams from 156 schools across 51 countries…each an all-time high!
On April 9th, 2014 we had our final round of judging and a keynote from Jon Steinberg, President and COO of Buzzfeed.
And the winner is...Senvol, a team from the Wharton School at UPENN that uses its proprietary algorithm to determine what types of parts can be more cost-effectively made using additive manufacturing (3D printing) versus the status quo. Read the article here.
The NYC Next Idea 2013-2014: Global New Venture Competition invites teams from around the world to submit their business ideas that can be launched and operated in New York City.
Finalist teams will win an all-expense paid trip to New York City in Spring 2014 to present their idea to a prestigious panel of judges, who will decide the prize winners. Prizes include a cash pool of $35,000, free workspace in NYC, pro bono legal advice and mentorship from the NYC venture capital and startup community.
The Competition is looking for ideas that address issues encountered in New York City as a result of the city’s infrastructure, industries, demographics, and space. This includes ideas addressing urban challenges found in NYC, as well as ideas aligned with major industries found in NYC such as fashion, financial services, media and advertising.
Previous Winners of the competition have raised significant funding, hired employees, and are growing into vibrant businesses in New York City.
2012- 2013 Competition Winners
KISI won the fourth annual NYC Next Idea competition. The team, which is originally from Germany, developed smartphone-managed entry security systems for buildings, apartments, and other spaces, and was selected from a highly competitive field of over 200 teams.
